REAL RACING / THE REASON WE DO THIS

FROM SIM
TO CIRCUIT.

How the learning carries over

THE REAL CAR IS THE GOAL

Make your track
time count.

Make the simulator work for your next race or test. Rehearse the demands of the circuit, explore setup and arrive knowing what you want to work on.

The real car remains the test. We prepare you to recognise its response, adapt your driving and give useful feedback to your team.

The racing experience behind GTS RS

DRIVING TECHNIQUE

Build feel you can use.

References help, but driving is more than joining braking points and apexes. Learn how your inputs affect balance and grip, then adapt that understanding to the car and circuit in front of you.

DRIVER & SETUP

Develop the whole package.

Technique and setup affect each other. We test changes for a reason, so you can recognise what helps and explain what the car needs.

FROM OUR COACHING

Where the work
meets the track.

Two examples from GTS RS coaching: applying a braking technique in the real car, and preparing a prototype driver for race circuits.

01 / BRAKING TECHNIQUE

Confidence
on the brakes.

The starting point

A driver lacked confidence applying the brake firmly, then progressively releasing it.

In the simulator

We practised the initial application and gradual release until the technique felt familiar.

Back in the real car

The driver tried it in the real car. The technique transferred successfully to the track.

02 / PROTOTYPE PREPARATION

Arrive with
a head start.

The focus

An LMP3 driver preparing for ELMS circuits and exploring setup ideas.

In the simulator

We worked through the circuits and the car’s response to setup changes, developing ideas for the driver to explore in the real car.

A PURPOSE FOR EVERY RUN

Explore Race & Test Preparation

Prepare for
your next event.

Give the simulator session a clear job, then use what you learn at the circuit.

  1. 01

    Know the challenge.

Tell us your championship, car, circuit and goal. We research where needed and agree the session’s focus.

  2. 02

    Do the groundwork.

Study onboards and practise on your home simulator where possible. Bring questions about what feels difficult.

  3. 03

    Give each run a purpose.

Use the Coach Console to compare laps and connect the data with what you feel. Test a driving or setup change, then review what it did.

  4. 04

    Take it to the track.

Adapt the learning to the real car and conditions. Record useful notes and onboards in your Drivers Hub so the next session builds on your track experience.

The simulator supports real testing. On track, you still learn the specific car and adapt to its grip, physical loads and conditions.

FROM OUR TESTING ARCHIVE / SILVERSTONE, 2017

Checking the sim
against the car.

In 2017, we tested a Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport at Silverstone International and compared its track data with the simulator.

A look at how real track data informed our simulator work.

Read how we compared simulator and track data
  1. 01

    Record the baseline.

Track testing supplied the real-car data.

  2. 02

    Match the controls.

Steering rate and pedal pressures were matched before comparison.

  3. 03

    Compare the results.

Differences between track and simulator data guided changes to the model.

The principle still matters: use real-car feedback to question and improve the simulation.

From our testing archive. The reports document the comparison, not a measured driver improvement.

YOUR NEXT RACE OR TEST

What are you
preparing for?

Tell us the car, circuit and what you want to improve. We’ll help you choose the right session and agree a useful starting point.

Keep the work connected through your Drivers Hub: preparation, coach feedback and what you learn on track.
